And also turn on the hot water tap to let the water comes out to run through the machine and steam tap to run it through too, because:
all parts has not been used before at all, there may some original taste from plastic and metal. So, the first 2 tanks water for flushing through the brewing group, hot water and steam wand.
Before you drink the first shot, I personally suggest you throw the first 2 shot away for flushing the metal taste from the portafilter and basket.
If there are metal / plastic taste still found, throw the shot too.
Some coffee geeks throw first 10-20 shots when they have a new machine.
Let the PF created some coffee oil , a very very very thin layer to avoid the metal taste. Of course, keep the PF clean is very important.
I do never not to brush or use cleaner for the PF.
I only clean it with very hot water and clean cloth.
A bottomless PF is highly recommended- throw 2 shots for the basket should be enough.
