Usually 1st crack around 195 and 2nd crack around 220.
Try to lower the heat power and see if you can complete the roast in around 12 min. |

Hi C-Hing,
I am using the direct fire roast as attached.
I found difficulty to keep the thermocouple dip into the coffee bean while roasting.
If bare thermocouple, the tip may be locked by the holes on wall. The thermocouple is easy to get burn by the direct fire.
If use a small piece of copper tubing to clip it, the copper get jumpy and the copper clip soon separated. Also, not sure affect coffee quality.
If use a long copper tube that go diagonal, the temperature is checking the whole drum. Is this representative?
What is the recommendation?
Hi Alex,
I tried lower temperature and found better. However, I cannot show the curve as the profile is stable after the copper clip got loose.
