I am searching the board for cup temp but fail to find any. This is the disadvantage of my extremely low/no proficiency in Chinese so I missed a lot of good discussion here on this board. If this is a duplicate, somebody please merge it on relevant topic.
I read twitter by Mark Prince this morning and it strikes me as things I found/met but always forgot to mention as if it fell into the crack somewhere.
I found that when the cup is too hot to handle, the coffee is more likely to taste worse. I had these experience with few places that seemed to try to hard to please the clients out of their earnest attempt to make a better coffee. I used this cup temp as one of the norm to check the cafe out. I could say for the good one, Crema and Barista Jam almost always in the right temp range for me, easily to hold and cling on.
I did something weird before, even put ice water into my mug before I pour my french press into it. Actually, I like it much better with more subdued overall taste profile. Maybe the low temp numbed all my nerves or maybe it's really the way my coffee should be serve. I don't have the answer for that as I'm too lazy to do the follow up
However, during the hot day like this, I wonder whether one needs to really warm the cup. Just a quick rinse will do to bring the cup temp up a bit.

Most time I complain the milk is too hot for a latte or cappuccino.
For espresso, I don't mind that's a little bit hot, just like kung fu tea... _________________

Hi,
I prefered the cup to be warm, or as warm as the espresso machine warmer can keep.
The other thing I would like to try recently is to taste the same cup for a bit longer time so as to find the effects of temperature to the drink. Sometimes I found that you could taste a bit more acidity / other flavor when it is cooled down a bit |
