my experience
1st crack sound is not reliable, 2nd crack sound is better.
Using smell is more better.
for same bean, the cracking temperature is more or less same, so keep past record can help your prediction.

Thanks sfxlo826 and vodkangump for the reply.
I tried again last nite with the same bean. Heard the 1st crack this time but couldnt hear the 2nd crack, the whisking sound was too loud!
This time I rely on the smell and stopped some minutes after I smell ????.

I found it quite difficult to define the smell.. when we were at class, i could smell the gunny sack, popcorn, baked cookies, and ??. But when i practice at home, dunno where all these smell gone!
