i think 0.5g is not significant enough for you to notice. try +/- 1g while maintain the same flow and see if you notice the difference in taste

say the flow is identical in both cases. now it's down to your own preference to determine whether you like it at 14g+A setting or 13g+B setting.

on the other hand, a well respected local barista once put it in such metaphor: it's like when you travel from one spot to another, you'd take an MTR from one station to another, and then you'd start walking from the station to destination. in most cases , you'd change grind setting (as in taking the MTR) and then dosing (as in walking) to refine the shot. but then he also added that it could be dosing (as in taking MTR) + grind setting (as in walking) depending on your hardwares.

in fact, what i said earlier doesn't contradict w/ isaac1213's advices.

what i meant is, you can achieve the same flow by higher dose+ coarser grind or lower dose + finer grind. both method of brewing is going to taste different, it will be up to your own preference and see what you'd like to have from ur shots.
