I saw your photo I think (1) your coffee bean's not so fresh. (2) too fine ground - should be as coarse as the brown sugar u add to the coffee. (3) might be your water current & flow too fast distrubing the coffee powder, and the bubble from the coffee powder break too early. I think after adding hot water soaking for 30-45s after the 1st hot water should be better.

it shouldn't be "??", it should be dry with long-lasting bubbles. Maybe I can post my pictures here later.

Oh......Hario ?filter cup, with spiral projection inside.......its special filter paper quite expensive comparing with others (my Muji filter paper only several dollar per 50 pcs)  |

Let's ????  !
1. I warm my filter cup while boiling water.
2. I ground my coffee beans as the brown sugar. Comparing with brown sugar:
3. I sieve out too finely ground coffee powder
4. Wet the filter paper
5. Dig a shallow hole in the coffee mountain
6. Pre-soak the coffee powder with hot water for 30 sec.
7. In the course of adding water
8. Finishing
9. The coffee powder mountain after all the water drainage
10. Finished coffee (fruity in taste) within 3 mins
