Next Friday, Starbucks is having a 15% off sale here in Taiwan. I'm thinking of getting one of their 12oz. French presses. I know that Bodum makes parts for their 32oz. press pots (I have one), but there are no Bodum labels or markings on their 12oz. ones. They simply say Pyrex. Does Bodum make them as well? Has anyone ever bought one? How well do they work?
Thanks. _________________ La Pavoni PRH, Aerobie AeroPress, Starbucks-Bodum French press

There may be several lots of Starbucks' 12 oz french press but the pyrex does not sound like Bodum to me.
Both of my 24 and 12 oz press are Bodum made (Even the paper box said Bodum with all arts and logo like what Bodum sold in regular store)
I think I saw a pyrex french press from Taiwan before (ie produced in Taiwan) and seem to be a good quality. My wild guess is that Starbuck Taiwan custom ordered it in Taiwan just for that one. It's my guess only
I can't find any press picture on the taiwan website though but you should be able to compare it with a larger producer in Taiwan like what Tiamo has to offer or the like. |

Thanks. That's exactly what I was wondering. The Starbucks ones look nicer than the Tiamo ones, though. _________________ La Pavoni PRH, Aerobie AeroPress, Starbucks-Bodum French press

You're welcomed.
There's lots more of this kind of manufacturers in Taiwan so you may be spoiled for choices.
Also, Starbucks used lots of supplier. For example, one cup brewer used to come Swiss Gold Commercial version, ie non gold plated filter, but now has no name, which, I believe, comes from Asia.
Also, you could try this guy on coffeegeek.com

He seemed to be based in Taiwan and should be able to lead you to something nice there. His email's here
