Normally for brewing espresso 9 bar is the standard. For some machines you see in the department stores, e.g. 15 bar, it means the max. pressure is 15 bar, and it's not meant to be the nominal pressure.

For ??filter, it's important to use this type of basket, since you can control the pressure by the granularity of the coffee ground and the tamping.

???? means you can see clearly what's happening when the espresso is being extracted. The portafilter itself does not impose any additional pressure to the coffee extraction process as the pressure exists only up to the point of the wall of the basket, so this is not a problem at all.
