i believe there are other options out there , but since everybody here used / tried one of these in their coffee journeys it's easier for you to get advices here.

hm, i suggest you to read through more old posts here to understand how coffee works.
the grind setting reference point is good only when you use it as a starting point. that particular setting is right with particular variables. variables include (roast, beans, dose, humidity, temperature, skill etc...) setting needs to be constantly changed from time to time to accommodate whatever variables have changed.
as for the machine, i believe gaggia classic is quite durable. For a 2nd hand one is good bargain. silvia is in the upper range.
