Dear Bid,
I am afraid you had overrated me if you considered me as rich. I am just an ordinary employee.
You don't have to be rich to buy a $1,500 coffee pot. You just need to have $1,500 and willing to spend it on coffee equipment.
My CFO is a cupping judge that I have not much problem on allocating budget for coffee and equipment.
The second one was bought by my CFO during her trip to Taipei.
I had bought quite a number of coffee pots owing to their individual merit.
These two together with the grinder modified for Kono do justify their prices in term of built quality and serving their purpose for drip brewing.
No, price could not reflect grind quality of a grinder without considering the brew method.
If I were rich, I would buy this one:
http://www.inoue-seisakujo.jp/products/RG05/rg05.html
It was designed by a coffee connoisseur with over 60 year experience.
http://www.h6.dion.ne.jp/~lambre/
I am not buying equipment for comparison.
I only buy coffee, equipment and tuition which, I think, would enhance quality in my cup. Besides, they should suit my methodology and taste.
By the way, what qualities of your above mentioned grinders are worth considering?
Regards,
SimonCHAN |

Dear Simon Hing,
The kettles, I am not sure since I have no idea 1 drop 1 drop or few drop few drop to make drip coffee really suitable for me...?
Accroding to the grinders. the 2,100,000 Yen one = HKD$210,000- + shipping charges...+ unknown service problem etc etc... I want to have a look when it arrives to your home.
The Lambre one, looks good ? I do not know much about this...
There are some SCAA graders say your M3 is the best for DRIP then R-220 Ghost teeth burr, but the yellow one comes with normal flat burr, may fits KONO Syphon making with more micro powder needed. < - I guess from the result of the grounds.
Anyway, the KUNG FU is the most important thing for making any kind of coffee...
For espresso, K-10 wbc, E-61 HX dual guage for years still with good result to me, R-220 ghost teeth 220v good for me as well.
Wave dripper for a lazy guy as me sa far so good, it needs less KUNG FU...
